The Mikawa Konro Grill — often known as a hibachi in Australia — offers the diatomite grilling experience at an accessible price. Where the premium Kinka Okunoto is cut from a single block of natural diatomite, the Mikawa houses a thick moulded diatomite interior inside a durable red steel case with reinforced corners, protecting the clay from knocks in everyday use.

The diatomite lining insulates the fire and directs heat upwards to the cooking surface, so binchotan charcoal burns longer and more efficiently. Sized for groups of 4–6 people, and available as a standalone grill or as a set with a custom-fit wooden base for tabletop protection.

Care Instructions

• Always allow the grill to cool down completely before cleaning or storing.
• Clean the grill mesh with a brush and warm water.
• Empty ash from the interior only when it is completely cold. Do not use water to clean the diatomite interior.
• Store in a dry, well-ventilated area to protect the diatomite from moisture.

A Note on Natural Materials

This grill is made with a natural diatomite mud interior. Minor cosmetic imperfections, such as small chips, hairline cracks, or an uneven texture on the interior clay, are a normal characteristic of this handcrafted material. These do not affect the grill's performance or safety.
