Saji Tairyoumaru Mini Donabe Japanese Clay Pot - 18.5cm

Add a touch of maritime charm to your meals with the Saji Tairyoumaru Mini Donabe. 'Tairyoumaru' evokes the spirit of a fishing boat with a bountiful catch, a theme reflected in this pot's delightful design. The lid is adorned with a classic blue seigaiha wave pattern, a symbol of good fortune and resilience in Japanese culture.

Perfectly sized for a single serving of noodles or a personal hot pot, this donabe features an intelligently designed lid that can be flipped over to use as a serving bowl. This unique, two-in-one functionality makes for a compact and enjoyable dining experience, bringing traditional Japanese artistry to your table.

What's Included

  • Saji Tairyoumaru Mini Donabe Base
  • Dual-Purpose Lid / Bowl

Key Features

  • Dual-Purpose Lid & Bowl: The cleverly designed lid can be inverted to become a personal serving bowl, perfect for a complete, self-contained meal.
  • Charming Maritime Design: Features the traditional blue seigaiha wave pattern, celebrating Japan's rich connection to the sea.
  • Perfect for Single Servings: With a 520ml capacity, this donabe is the ideal size for individual portions of noodles, rice dishes, or stews.
  • Superior Heat Retention: Crafted from high-quality clay, it retains heat exceptionally well to keep your meal warm to the last bite.
  • Made in Japan: Authentic, high-quality craftsmanship from Japan's renowned pottery regions.

Initial Seasoning (Medome) & Care

Before first use, your donabe must be seasoned. This traditional process, called medome, seals the porous clay. Please refer to the comprehensive user guide linked above for detailed instructions. Note: As the lid has no steam vent (to allow it to function as a bowl), it may need to be slightly offset during some cooking processes to allow steam to escape.
