Yoshikawa Cook-Pal Ren Nitrided Carbon Steel Induction Wok - 33cm (with Helper Handle)

Buy a Cook-Pal Ren and you are buying into a system. Yoshikawa makes the Ren in six wok sizes and three frypans, with matching stainless steel lids, steamer inserts and spare wooden handles — all cut to the same diameters, so a lid bought years after the pan still fits. This extra-large 33cm size adds a fixed helper handle opposite the long detachable one, for stable two-handed lifting when full.

The body is 1.6mm nitrided carbon steel made in the company's own Tsubame-Sanjo facilities — the high-temperature nitriding hardens the surface, resists rust, and gives seasoning an easy grip from the first use.

What's Included

Wok Only Option:

  • 1 x Yoshikawa Cook-Pal Ren Wok with Helper Handle - 33cm

Wok + Lid Set Option:

Steam with it: the Cook-Pal Stainless Steel Steamer - 33cm is made to sit directly in this wok — no adapter needed.

Key Features

  • Premium Nitrided Carbon Steel: The steel undergoes a special nitriding heat treatment, creating a hardened, corrosion-resistant, and durable surface.
  • Two-Handle Design: Features a long, removable wooden handle for tossing and a fixed helper handle for stable lifting and carrying.
  • Dual Pouring Rims: Convenient pouring spouts on both sides of the wok allow for easy, drip-free pouring.
  • Optional Stainless Steel Lid: Available as a set with the matching Cook-Pal 33cm lid.
  • Matching Steamer Available: The 33cm Cook-Pal stainless steel steamer sits directly in the wok for dumplings and vegetables.
  • Induction Compatible: The flat bottom ensures stability and makes this wok compatible with all cooktops, including induction.

Seasoning & Care

Like all carbon steel cookware, this wok needs a quick season before first use to start building its natural nonstick patina — the nitrided surface makes this easier than on untreated iron. Full step-by-step instructions are in our carbon steel user guide.

A Note on Optional Lids: The optional Yoshikawa lid may not create a perfect seal due to the partially handmade nature of the wok. A slight gap on one side is normal.

About Yoshikawa

Yoshikawa manufactures in Tsubame-Sanjo and builds its cookware as systems rather than single items. The Cook-Pal Ren line runs from 24cm to 36cm, with lids, steamer inserts and spare handles engineered to the same diameters — a lid bought years after the pan still fits. Production is entirely in the company's own Japanese facilities.

Use & Care
  • Care guide: Our step-by-step guide and video for seasoning and care.
  • First use: A one-time 5-minute oil seasoning is all it takes.
  • After cooking: Wash with warm water while still warm, dry thoroughly over low heat, then wipe on a thin coat of oil.
  • Storage: Don't leave food sitting in the pan — it's a cooking tool, not a storage container.
  • Rust: Almost always a sign of too little oil. Scrub it off and re-season — the pan will recover.
  • Acidic foods: Tomatoes and vinegar are fine in short bursts — read our guide before simmering them.
Good to Know
  • Patina: Marks, stains and darkening with use are normal — the surface improves as you cook.
  • Nitrided vs non-nitrided: Nitriding strengthens the steel and resists rust — our buying guide explains the difference between brands.
  • Prefer no seasoning? Our nonstick guide covers the low-maintenance alternative.
  • Induction: Most of our carbon steel range is induction-compatible — check the specs on each product page.
