Rosanjin Japanese Ogatan Binchotan Charcoal - 2kg

Rosanjin is a Japanese Ogatan Binchotan (compressed sawdust white charcoal) produced by Asauchi Fuel, a manufacturer with over 150 years of history. The product serves as a reliable, cost-effective alternative to traditional branch Binchotan. Named after the Japanese artist and gourmet Kitaoji Rosanjin, this charcoal is formulated to provide consistent heat and minimal smoke for both professional and home konro grilling.

Production and Performance

Rosanjin A is manufactured from domestically sourced Japanese sawdust. The material undergoes a high-pressure compression and a high-temperature carbonisation process exceeding 800°C. This specific white charcoal finish creates a dense structure that combines the uniform, predictable shape of modern Ogatan with performance characteristics that mirror traditional Binchotan. The primary advantage of this process is stable and long-lasting heat.

Key Features

  • Material: 100% compressed domestic Japanese sawdust, finished as white charcoal (Ogatan Binchotan).
  • High Heat Output: Output reaches approximately 8,000 kilocalories for steady, intense grilling performance.
  • Clean Combustion: High carbon purity results in minimal smoke and odour that will not interfere with the natural flavour of ingredients.
  • Safety: The dense, uniform structure prevents the sudden popping and sparking often associated with lower-grade charcoals.
  • Accessible Quality: Premium Japanese manufacturing standards are offered at a more approachable price point than whole-branch Binchotan.

The Meaning Behind Rosanjin

The brand name refers to the interconnected elements of Japanese culinary culture:

  • Ro (炉): The kiln that creates the charcoal and the hearth where the food is cooked.
  • San (山): The mountains that provide the natural timber resources.
  • Jin (人): The craftsmen, the chefs, and the diners.

Packaging Details

The 2kg and 4kg sizes are repacked into our own secure shipping boxes to provide a manageable volume for home users. The manufacturer's original packaging is exclusive to the original full-size bulk cartons and is not included with this 2kg product.
