Ise Mizu Donabe Konro Grill - Size 10 - Brown
Ise Mizu Donabe Konro Grill - Size 10 - Brown
This donabe grill features a traditional water jacket—an outer clay pot that you fill with water—to act as a natural insulator. This keeps the outer body cooler and provides a stable, moist heat for grilling. In Australia, this style of grill is commonly called a hibachi grill.
The gentle, humid heat is excellent for grilling seafood, vegetables, and other delicate foods, preventing them from drying out. This Size 10 model is sized for small groups of 2–4 people.
What's Included:
- Donabe Grill Body (Size 10): The main Japanese clay pot in brown.
- Diatomite Trivet: Sits inside the grill to hold the hot charcoal.
- Wooden Base: For safe tabletop use and heat protection.
- Reusable Grill Mesh (29cm): One durable mesh is included.
How It Works
- Pour water into the outer grill body.
- Place the diatomite trivet inside the grill, ensuring it sits above the water level.
- Add hot binchotan charcoal onto the trivet (approx. 0.5kg to 1kg).
- Place the grill mesh on top and begin grilling.

Key Features
- Water Jacket Design: The outer pot holds water to insulate the grill, keep the outer body cooler, and create a moist cooking environment.
- Ideal for Delicate Foods: The gentle, humid heat is perfect for grilling seafood, fish, and vegetables without drying them out.
- Complete Grilling Set: Includes the donabe grill body, an internal diatomite trivet, a protective wooden base, and a 29cm reusable grill mesh.
- Authentic Japanese Materials: Crafted from high-quality Japanese clay (donabe) and diatom mud (trivet).
Important Note on Trivet Maintenance

- Handle with Care: The grill and trivet become extremely hot. Always use on the included wooden base and handle with care.

What Made Okunoto Konro Grills / Hibachi Grills So Special?
- Okunoto konro grills are frequently seen in cooking competitions. Popular in Japanese barbeque restaurants.
- Uses diatom mud from the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture.
- Diatom mud is an excellent heat insulator. Walls of the grill are over 5cm thick.
- When used with binchotan, the heat is high, consistent, and concentrated. Provides an exceptional barbeque experience.
- Suitable for grilling wagyu, yakitori, fish, vegetables, and various barbeque recipes.
Use and Maintenance
- Avoid carbon monoxide poisoning. Always grill outdoors in well-ventilated areas.
- Take proper care to extinguish the fire. Do not use water. If water is absorbed, diatom mud becomes brittle. It will also lose its durability.
- When cleaning the grill, do not use water. Instead, gently remove the ash and food residue.
