This donabe grill features a traditional water jacket—an outer clay pot that you fill with water—to act as a natural insulator. This keeps the outer body cooler and provides a stable, moist heat for grilling. In Australia, this style of grill is commonly called a hibachi grill.
The gentle, humid heat is excellent for grilling seafood, vegetables, and other delicate foods, preventing them from drying out. This Size 10 model is sized for small groups of 2–4 people.

How It Works
- Pour water into the outer grill body.
- Place the diatomite trivet inside the grill, ensuring it sits above the water level.
- Add hot binchotan charcoal onto the trivet (approx. 0.5kg to 1kg).
- Place the grill mesh on top and begin grilling.

Important Note on Trivet Maintenance
Please be aware that the inner diatomite trivet is a consumable item. The intense heat of the charcoal will cause the trivet to crack over time — this is normal, and it can remain in use until it begins to break apart. Replacement trivets are available. This applies to the trivet only — if the clay grill body itself ever cracks, stop using the grill and contact us.
