This simple dish is surprisingly tasty though it requires little time and basic seasoning. The key is to cook the radish until it is soft and transparent. Happycall IH Vacuum Pot is able to shorten the cooking time. Simply cook for 15 - 20 minutes and then wait for an additional 15 - 20 minutes.

Usually the process takes a few hours. Let the dish stay fresh in vacuum mode. With a normal pot, simply extend the cooking time until the radish becomes transparent.

Many of the ingredients can be found in Asian grocery stores or on Woolworths online.

Ingredients

  • 1 white radish
  • 500g of pork mince
  • Dried shaved bonito

Seasoning

Instructions

  1. Peel the white radish to make it sweeter.
  2. Use the roll-cut method as demonstrated. The surface of the white radish will be larger and tastier.

  3. Use medium high heat. Add a bit of oil.
  4. Add all the pork mince at one time. Stir fry until well cooked.
  5. Turn the heat down to medium. Add 200ml of sake and cook until the mixture boils.

  6. Add radish, stock and all the seasoning. Stir well.
  7. Close the lid and cook for another 15 minutes.
  8. Turn off the heat and let the pot sit for 20 minutes. The pot will keep cooking for another few minutes and keep working for the rest of the time.
  9. Add some dried shaved bonito and green onion.

Additional information: 

  1. Remember a reasonably heated cookware and heated oil (not overheating) are key.
  2. Users will need basic cooking techniques and common sense (understanding of proper heat control, knowing how to check the food periodically, and so on).
  3. Heat level, Please note that the heat levels shown below are for general reference only. Every cooktop is different. The following ranges apply if 10 is the maximum.
  • Low heat: the heat level is 1-2.
  • Medium low heat: the heat level is 3-4.
  • Medium heat: the heat level is 5.
  • Medium high heat: the heat level is 7-8.
  • High heat: the heat level is 9-10.
