Green Life Stainless Steel Konro & Hibachi Grill Starter Set - 39cm
The Green Life is a stainless steel konro built around two practical ideas. The inner charcoal container lifts out whole, so ash and spent charcoal tip straight into the bin with no scooping. And the handles flip up to hold the mesh higher, for gentler heat on delicate food, or to add charcoal mid-session without lifting the mesh off.
Where the diatomite Kinka Okunoto is prized for insulation and radiant heat, the Green Life is about convenience: it is lightweight, will not chip or crack, and every part can be washed.
This set has everything to start grilling for four to six people: the grill, two meshes, 15 skewers and 3kg of Matsuba compressed charcoal, matched to the stainless steel body. The fire chamber is about 25 x 11cm, and a session takes about 700g of charcoal.

What charcoal and tools does the Green Life need?
The Green Life takes about 700g of compressed charcoal a session — fill its fire chamber no more than two-thirds deep. The 3kg of Matsuba in this set gets you started, with a steady, even heat in the stainless steel body; for a higher grade, see Rosanjin.
Then, in the order you will use them:
- Natural firelighters — six to eight cubes at the bottom of the chimney.
- Charcoal chimney — light the charcoal in it, away from the grill.
- Chimney mesh — keep a separate mesh just for the chimney: lay it over the top to stop popping charcoal and sparks flying out. A 27 x 21cm mesh fits.
- Long charcoal tongs — move the glowing charcoal into the grill at arm's length; the wooden handles stay cool in the hand.
- Extinguishing pot — puts the fire out safely at the end of a session; the 2-in-1 chimney doubles as one.
