Is the Joyoung Y828 Food Processor & Soy Milk Maker Worth Buying?

Is the Joyoung Y828 Food Processor & Soy Milk Maker Worth Buying?

If you are in Australia and considering purchasing the Joyoung Y828 Food Processor & Soy Milk Maker, we are here to provide you with a comprehensive review. We have extensively used this machine and would like to share our unbiased evaluation of its pros and cons, as well as offer honest advice on whether it is a suitable purchase.

As a retailer, our goal is to ensure that customers receive products that meet their expectations and prove to be useful. This review is entirely independent and free from any supplier influence.

Designed for the Australian Market

The Y828 model is available only in Australia, as it has been designed specifically by Joyoung for the Australian market. We believe this is because Australia has strict safety regulations for electrical products, which have prompted Joyoung to create a specialised line to ensure compliance. This dedicated approach to meeting safety standards is definitely good news.

Auto Cleaning with Some Parts Requiring Hand Washing

The Y828 boasts a highly effective high-speed blade that effortlessly grinds ingredients into a fine texture for your beverages. Additionally, it operates at an impressive speed, producing soy milk in 30 minutes and smoothies in a mere 2 minutes.

Another notable feature is its auto-cleaning function, which takes care of the blade and internal parts. By simply adding water to the water tank and activating the cleaning process, the machine efficiently handles the cleaning task.

It is worth mentioning that the water residue box, water tank, glass stirring cavity, and glass receiver cup still require hand washing.

Small Machine and Silky Drinks: Is That What You Want?

In terms of size, this machine is smaller than its popular predecessor, the Y1 model. It can produce drinks ranging from 300ml to 1.2L. If you are seeking a larger capacity machine, the Y828 may not be suitable for your needs.

Similar to its predecessor, the Y828 utilises a high-speed blade without a filter, resulting in beverages with very fine ingredients and a silky texture. The reason why modern vegan milk makers do not come equipped with a filter is that a normal any soy milk filter will do the job. The option to use a filter bag or soy milk filter is available if you prefer.

However, if you are not fond of this silky texture or do not wish to use a mesh filter, the Y828 may not be the best choice for you.

It Is Not a Quiet Machine

Like other blenders, this food processor generates some noise during operation. You can expect a noise level comparable to that of using a range hood. While some individuals may find this bothersome, we believe it is a reasonable compromise. Considering its high-speed blender capabilities with a rotation speed of 27,000 to 32,000 revolutions per minute, complete silence cannot be expected.

To maximise the machine's performance, it is essential to maintain the water tank at an adequate level for all programs. Certain programs, such as "Soy Milk," "Almond Milk," "Oat Milk," and "Sterilize," draw water from the water tank. On the other hand, programs like "Juice" and "Smoothie" require you to add water through the hole with the blade.

I made the mistake of not adding water for the juice function, resulting in nothing coming out and the machine initiating the auto-washing program after use. Lesson learned!

Not Easy to Read the English User Guide

One area that could benefit from improvement is the English user guide provided by Joyoung. As is often the case with products made in China, the guide is understandable but requires some effort to read through.

To address this issue, we have created an additional note to assist users in grasping the main points before delving into the user guide. Watching the instructional video we have prepared above can also prove helpful prior to reading the user guide.

Within the user guide, you will encounter the term "tea strainer cleaner," which is referred to as "sodium bicarb" in Australia. We do not recommend using it. Simply utilising the auto clean and deep clean functions after every 30 uses should be sufficient for maintaining the machine's cleanliness.
