Choosing Your Charcoal

Before Your First Light
Charcoal produces carbon monoxide: outdoors only, never in an enclosed space. Keep children and pets clear, and never leave it unattended.
Light it in a charcoal chimney with natural firelighters, with a mesh over the top, and stand clear until it is glowing — allow 30–45 minutes; damp charcoal can pop and spark. Never use water: let leftovers go out in a charcoal extinguishing pot, or sealed inside the 2-in-1 chimney, which doubles as an extinguisher, and reuse them next time. Store indoors in a dry, sealed container.
