It lights binchotan and other charcoals quickly, and doubles as a charcoal saver (hikeshi tsubo) — seal the lid to safely extinguish and preserve unused charcoal for your next barbecue. DANGER: CARBON MONOXIDE HAZARD. Burning charcoal produces carbon monoxide, which has no odour and can be lethal. NEVER use this product in enclosed spaces such as homes, tents, or vehicles. Use OUTDOORS ONLY in a well-ventilated area. The body of the chimney will become extremely hot during use; always handle with heat-resistant gloves.

How to Use as a Chimney Starter

  1. Place the chimney on a non-flammable surface, such as a concrete patio or the grate of your barbecue.
  2. Fill the chimney with the desired amount of charcoal.
  3. Place a firelighter underneath the chimney and light it.
  4. Once the charcoal is lit and glowing (approx. 15-20 minutes), carefully pour it into your grill.

How to Use as a Charcoal Extinguisher

  1. Using heat-proof tongs, carefully transfer hot, leftover charcoal from your grill into the chimney pot.
  2. Place the lid securely on top to cut off the oxygen supply.
  3. The charcoal will be safely extinguished and will cool down, ready to be reused. This is an excellent water-free method for preserving the life of your konro grill.
