Shigaraki Yaki Brush Donabe Japanese Clay Pot - 25cm (Size 8)
This Shigaraki Yaki Donabe is handcrafted in Shiga Prefecture, home to one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns. A dynamic blue brushstroke design over the warm, sandy-textured clay body gives an artistic twist on traditional donabe.
This Size 8 pot is larger than most at 2.5 L, serving three to four people for shared hot pots, stews, and soups. The natural properties of Shigaraki clay provide excellent heat retention, cooking your meal evenly and keeping it warm at the table.

Seasoning & Care
Before first use, perform medome (rice porridge seasoning) to seal the clay and prevent cracking or leaking. Full step-by-step instructions are in our donabe user guide.
- Avoid sudden temperature changes (e.g. do not put a cold pot on high heat, or place a hot pot on a cold or wet surface).
- Hand wash only once cooled. Do not soak for extended periods.
- Dry thoroughly before storage to prevent mould.
About Shigaraki Ware
Shigaraki ware (Shigaraki-yaki) is a type of Japanese stoneware pottery made in Shiga Prefecture. As one of Japan's 'Six Ancient Kilns', it is famous for its rustic simplicity and the character of its clay, which often contains particles of feldspar that create a warm, textured surface when fired.
