Donabe Wooden Slatted Base - 18cm

A donabe comes off the stove holding intense heat in its base — enough to scorch a fabric mat or linen heat protector, let alone the table underneath. This slatted wooden base is a trivet made for exactly that job: thick natural wood takes the heat without marking, so the pot can go straight from the stove to the table.

Built thicker than our solid base, it sits extra steady under a full pot, and the surface is flame-charred in Japan using the traditional Yakisugi (焼杉) method, which further improves heat resistance and highlights the natural grain.

Care Instructions

• This item is treated with a traditional flame-charring process. A fine, dark powder (excess carbon) may be present initially; this is normal and will diminish with use.
• To clean, gently wipe the surface with a damp cloth using water only.
• Do not use soap or detergent, as it may damage the natural finish.
• After wiping, allow the wood to air dry completely before storing.
• Not dishwasher safe.
