Mugiwara Pattern Japanese Rice Bowl - 11cm
The mugiwara (wheat straw) pattern is built from vertical brushstrokes in blue and rust running down the outside of the bowl, painted freehand so that the spacing and colour balance shift from piece to piece.
The form carries a deliberate yuragi, a gentle waviness left in the rim rather than trued up, which is characteristic of the style. At 11cm in diameter the bowl holds a standard serving of rice, small donburi portions, or side dishes.
