Takumi Japan Carbon Steel Induction Deep Frying Pot - 24cm

This Takumi deep frying pot is built for tempura, karaage, and other deep-fried dishes: the deep, rounded body keeps food fully submerged for even, crispy results, and a semi-circular wire rack rests on the rim so freshly fried pieces drain back into the pot.

The body is bare 1.8mm iron with Takumi's textured 'Magma Plate' surface — not nitrided, so it seasons deeply with traditional care and needs thorough drying on the heat after every wash. Two sturdy loop handles and a pouring spout make handling and emptying hot oil safer.

What's Included

  • 1 x Takumi Japan Carbon Steel Deep Frying Pot - 24cm
  • 1 x Removable Wire Draining Rack

Pairs with: the Pearl Life Tempura Pot Thermometer clips onto the rim to keep frying oil in the ideal temperature range.

Key Features

  • Designed for Deep Frying: The deep, rounded body holds a generous amount of oil for even, crispy cooking.
  • Includes Draining Rack: A semi-circular wire rack rests on the pot's rim so excess oil drips back into the pot.
  • Magma Plate Carbon Steel: Made from 98.8% high-purity iron, the textured surface aids heat conduction and helps seasoning oil adhere.
  • Traditional, Non-Nitrided Steel: Pure carbon steel without nitriding, which seasons deeply with traditional care.
  • Induction Compatible: The stable, flat base suits all cooktops, including induction, gas, and electric.

Seasoning & Care

As a traditional carbon steel pot, it needs seasoning before first use to build its natural nonstick surface. Because this pot is not nitrided, it requires prompt and thorough drying after every wash to prevent rust — this is a normal characteristic of pure carbon steel. Full step-by-step instructions are in our carbon steel user guide.

About Takumi Japan

Takumi Japan works in heat-treated 'Magma Plate' iron rather than nitrided steel. The textured surface is formed during heat treatment rather than applied afterwards, which is why it holds seasoning well and why the pans sit below nitrided equivalents on price.

Use & Care
  • Care guide: Our step-by-step guide and video for seasoning and care.
  • First use: A one-time 5-minute oil seasoning is all it takes.
  • After cooking: Wash with warm water while still warm, dry thoroughly over low heat, then wipe on a thin coat of oil.
  • Storage: Don't leave food sitting in the pan — it's a cooking tool, not a storage container.
  • Rust: Almost always a sign of too little oil. Scrub it off and re-season — the pan will recover.
  • Acidic foods: Tomatoes and vinegar are fine in short bursts — read our guide before simmering them.
Good to Know
  • Patina: Marks, stains and darkening with use are normal — the surface improves as you cook.
  • Nitrided vs non-nitrided: Nitriding strengthens the steel and resists rust — our buying guide explains the difference between brands.
  • Prefer no seasoning? Our nonstick guide covers the low-maintenance alternative.
  • Induction: Most of our carbon steel range is induction-compatible — check the specs on each product page.
