The Tiger JAX-S18A is a multifunction rice cooker that also slow cooks and steams, and — with Tiger's tacook Synchro-Cooking function — cooks a main dish and rice at the same time. Steam rising from the rice cooks the dish in the basket above, so both finish together without flavours crossing over.
It cooks from 2 cups up to 10 cups (180ml cup) — about two bowls per cup, so enough for a family of three up to a large household or gathering. A standard cycle takes 48–60 minutes; a Quick menu shortens it for firmer rice.
Eight computerised menus cover plain, quick, sweet-mixed, porridge, multigrain and brown rice, and two independent preset timers let you schedule breakfast and dinner separately. Also available in a 5.5-cup size (JAX-S10A).

The steaming basket has a raised centre, so it won't hold a bowl or plate — place food directly on the basket itself.
Pairs with: JAX-S Series Replacement Inner Pot — keep a spare on hand to cook congee or soup while your rice pot is in use, or to swap in when the nonstick coating eventually wears.

- Synchro-Cooking (tacook): Cook a main dish on the steaming basket above the rice — designed for 2–4 cups of rice when synchro-cooking.
- Slow Cook: Brings ingredients close to the boil, then holds a gentle simmer at around 88°C for 5 to 180 minutes.
- Steam: Steams chicken, fish, dumplings and vegetables on the basket for 5 to 60 minutes.

Good to know before you buy: warranty, size and heating
- Warranty: 12-month manufacturer's warranty. If anything goes wrong, contact us first — we lodge the claim, and Tiger's or Zojirushi's authorised Australian service centre carries out the repair and contacts you directly.
- Australian models: All rice cookers we stock are Australian 240V models — not grey imports.
- Size: Capacity is in cups of uncooked rice, using the 180 ml rice cup in the box — not a 250 ml metric cup. 3 cups suits singles and couples, 5.5 cups a household of 3–5, and 10 cups larger families or batch cooking.
- Heating: Base-heat models are simple and affordable. Induction (IH) heats the whole pot evenly for noticeably better rice. IH pressure gives the softest, sweetest rice and handles brown rice best. Not sure which? Read Induction vs conventional rice cookers.
