The JPK-G18A is the large-capacity version of Tiger's flagship rice cooker in Australia, combining induction heating with true pressure cooking. Pressure lifts the boiling temperature above 100°C, drawing out noticeably more sweetness and softness from the rice. In our experience its pressure gasket rarely needs replacing, a routine maintenance cost on many pressure cookers.
It cooks from 2 cups up to 10 cups (180ml cup) — about two bowls per cup, so enough for a family of three up to a large household or gathering. A standard cycle takes 46–59 minutes; the express menu cooks up to three cups in 20–24 minutes.
The 20-menu spread is unusually deep: beyond rice, congee and soup, it ferments and bakes bread, and bakes cakes — few rice cookers offer anything close. Pressure cookers are normally tedious to clean, so the one-press steam self-clean cycle matters. Also available in a 5.5-cup size (JPK-G10A).

A Note on Pressure Cooking
Because this cooker operates under pressure, the lid locks during cooking — you cannot open it mid-cycle to stir or add ingredients. Steam also releases under pressure: keep hands and face clear of the steam vent, and follow the user guide when opening the lid after cooking.
Care Instructions
- Hand wash the inner pot, inner lid and steam cap with a soft sponge — none of the parts are dishwasher safe.
- Wipe the exterior of the cooker body with a damp cloth. Do not submerge.

Good to know before you buy: warranty, size and heating
- Warranty: 12-month manufacturer's warranty. If anything goes wrong, contact us first — we lodge the claim, and Tiger's or Zojirushi's authorised Australian service centre carries out the repair and contacts you directly.
- Australian models: All rice cookers we stock are Australian 240V models — not grey imports.
- Size: Capacity is in cups of uncooked rice, using the 180 ml rice cup in the box — not a 250 ml metric cup. 3 cups suits singles and couples, 5.5 cups a household of 3–5, and 10 cups larger families or batch cooking.
- Heating: Base-heat models are simple and affordable. Induction (IH) heats the whole pot evenly for noticeably better rice. IH pressure gives the softest, sweetest rice and handles brown rice best. Not sure which? Read Induction vs conventional rice cookers.

I recently bought glass containers,
and with the Tiger and my vitamix blender I have managed to fill most of them with some of the best food,
that I have made so far, 10 cups is a good size, 2 min cleaning, best cook I ever bought.
I wouldn't get a smaller unit unless I wanted a Rice only 1 cup machine,
but with containers, the TIger cooks everything properly for your containers to store well.
Slow cooked for 80min turkey breast or anything comes out like nothing you've tasted.
