Zojirushi Pressure IH Rice Cooker - 5.5 Cups (NW-YAQ10)
The NW-YAQ10 is the first Zojirushi pressure induction-heating (IH) rice cooker approved for Australia. Induction heats the whole inner pot rather than just the base, and pressure lifts the cooking temperature above boiling point, so the grain absorbs water more completely — rice comes out softer through the centre and springier on the bite than a non-pressure IH cooker produces, and brown rice and multigrain benefit most. It cooks from half a cup up to 5.5 cups of white rice.
Pressure is applied automatically on the menus that gain from it — white, quick, long grain, brown, GABA brown, multigrain and steel-cut oats — and switched off for congee and quinoa, which would otherwise boil over. The inner lid set lifts out on its holder for washing after every use, and a pressurised self-clean cycle keeps odours down. If you do not need pressure, the NW-QAQ10 IH Micom is the non-pressure alternative. Also available in a 10-cup size (NW-YAQ18).

- Pressure IH Cooking: Induction heats the entire inner pot while pressure raises the cooking temperature above 100°C for a softer, fuller-textured grain.
- 10 Menu Settings: White (Regular, Firmer), Quick, Long Grain White, Congee, Brown, GABA Brown, Multi Grain, Quinoa and Steel Cut Oatmeal.
- Pressure Only Where It Helps: Pressure runs on the white, brown, multigrain and oat menus and is switched off automatically for congee and quinoa.
- Keep Warm up to 24 Hours: Regular Keep Warm holds white rice for 12 hours and the low-temperature Extended mode for 24, with the keep-warm temperature adjustable across seven levels.
- Two Preset Timers: Cooking can be set to finish up to 13 hours ahead, with two stored preset times.
- Self-Cleaning Cycle: A 60-minute pressurised steam cycle reduces odours around the inner lid and steam vent.
- Detachable Inner Lid Set: The inner lid, pressure control valve and filter lift out as one unit for washing.
- Melody, Beep or Silent: Start and finish alerts can be switched between a melody, a beep or no sound.
- Memory Battery: A built-in lithium battery keeps the clock and menu settings when the cooker is unplugged.
- SAA Approved for Australia: The first Zojirushi pressure IH model approved for Australian homes (Approval No. NSW29937).

A Note on Pressure Cooking
The outer lid locks while pressure is applied and will not open until the PRESSURE indicator has cleared from the display, and steam from the vent is very hot during cooking. Fill only to the marked water level for the menu selected — this cooker is designed for rice and the menus listed above, not for stews, beans, pasta or foods that foam or expand.
