Matsuba Binchotan (Pine-Based) - 3kg

Made from compressed pine materials, this Matsuba Binchotan charcoal lights more easily than traditional hardwood binchotan and offers a steady, reliable heat for all your grilling needs. While it carries the 'binchotan' name, it's important to note its unique characteristics.

Produced by compressing pine charcoal powder, it offers a different aroma and burn time compared to premium Tosa or Kishu binchotan. Many grillers like to mix Matsuba with traditional binchotan, using it as a 'starter' to easily establish a hot base before adding the longer-burning hardwood charcoal.

What's Included

  • 1 x Matsuba Binchotan (Pine-Based) - 3kg

⚠️ Important Safety Information

  • Outdoor Use Only: Never use charcoal in an enclosed space, such as a home, tent, or vehicle.
  • Carbon Monoxide Hazard: Burning charcoal produces carbon monoxide, which is odourless and can be fatal. Ensure adequate ventilation at all times.
  • Handle with Care: Use tongs to handle hot charcoal and ensure it is fully extinguished in a safe container after use.
  • Keep out of the reach of children. Before using this product, please read our online user guide.

Key Features

  • Easy to Ignite: Lights significantly faster and more easily than traditional dense hardwood binchotan, getting you grilling sooner.
  • Consistent, Uniform Shape: The compressed logs are uniform in size, providing a steady and predictable burn.
  • Cost-Effective Alternative: Offers a great grilling performance at a more budget-friendly price point than premium oak-based binchotan.
  • Perfect for Mixing: Ideal for use as a 'starter charcoal' to easily ignite longer-burning hardwood binchotan, or can be used on its own for a quicker barbecue.

Understanding Pine-Based Binchotan

Pine-based binchotan is made from compressed pine materials rather than traditional hardwoods like ubame oak. While it shares the "white charcoal" name, it offers distinct characteristics, including a subtle pine aroma and easier ignition. The hollow-centred design improves airflow, promoting a faster light and efficient combustion.
