Mikawa Portable Konro Grill Starter Set
This starter set bundles the Mikawa Portable Konro — often known as a hibachi grill in Australia — with everything needed to start grilling straight out of the box.
The grill is crafted in Japan from natural diatomite, and its small 19cm fire bowl is made for binchotan charcoal: a small amount concentrates its heat and burns for hours, so each session uses very little charcoal. With its carry handle and light weight, the grill moves easily between the table, the balcony and the campsite.

A Note on Natural Materials
This grill is manufactured from natural diatomite mud. Minor cosmetic imperfections, such as small chips or an uneven texture on the interior, are a normal characteristic of the material and do not affect the grill's performance.
Safe Use & Care
Important: This is a charcoal grill for outdoor use only. The grill body becomes extremely hot during use — always place it on the included wooden base and handle with heat-resistant mitts.
Setup:
- Place the grill on its wooden base on a stable, heat-proof surface outdoors.
- Light your binchotan outdoors and transfer it into the fire bowl once covered in grey ash — around 0.5kg per session is typical for this size.
- Set the mesh on top and start grilling.
After Grilling:
Never use water to extinguish hot charcoal. Let it burn out completely or transfer it to a dedicated charcoal extinguisher pot. Empty ash only when the grill is completely cold, and never wash the diatomite interior with water.
